Premise

The series centres on Alisa Mikhailovna Kujo, a high-achieving student of Russian and Japanese heritage, and her classmate Masachika Kuze. Alya often speaks Russian to hide her true feelings, but Masachika can understand her, leading to comedic situations at their Japanese high school.

Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian began as a Light Novel series written by SunSunSun and illustrated by Momoco. The Light Novel series began publication in 2020. A manga adaptation by Saho Tenamachi began serialization in Kodansha's Magazine Pocket service in 2022.

Anime adaptation

The anime television adaptation was produced by Doga Kobo and aired from July to September 2024. It ran for 12 episodes in its first season. A second season is scheduled for 2027.

Reception and circulation

The series achieved broad commercial success. By August 2024, the Light Novel series had more than five million copies in circulation.
