Born in Burlington, Ontario, he was drafted by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2012 and later traded to Montreal in 2020. He is known as a powerful, physical forward and has been described by Canadiens coach Martin St. Louis as a key part of the team’s culture.

Early life and junior career

Anderson was born in Burlington, Ontario, and played junior hockey with the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League. He scored 50 goals and 100 points in 127 games over two seasons and helped London win consecutive OHL titles.

NHL career

Selected by Columbus in 2012, Anderson signed his entry-level contract in 2013 and made his NHL debut in January 2014 with the Blue Jackets. He set NHL career highs of 27 goals, 20 assists and 47 points in the 2018–19 season. He was traded to Montreal on October 6, 2020, in a deal involving Max Domi.

Playing style

International play
