Created and adapted by Julian Fellowes from his 2016 novel of the same name, it is set in 19th-century London and follows the social and personal consequences of secrets within elite society. The series was produced by Carnival Films in co-production with Epix.

Premise

Belgravia follows the fallout from long-buried secrets in London’s high society, focusing on the Trenchard family and their interactions with the established upper classes. The story unfolds across decades, beginning around the time of the Battle of Waterloo.

Production

The miniseries was produced by Carnival Films in co-production with Epix and adapted by Julian Fellowes from his novel. John Alexander directed the series, and Colin Wratten served as producer. The production reunited several collaborators from Downton Abbey.

Broadcast and release

Belgravia premiered in the United Kingdom on ITV on 15 March 2020 and in the United States on Epix on 12 April 2020. It was later distributed on other streaming and broadcast platforms in different territories. In Canada, the series is available on CBC Gem.

Follow-up series

Belgravia: The Next Chapter was announced in 2022 and premiered in January 2024. It continues the story in the same fictional world with a new focus on the next generation of the Trenchard family.
