Born in Los Angeles in 1993, Platt is the son of film and theatre producer Marc Platt and philanthropist Julie Platt. He began performing at a young age and later attended Columbia University before pursuing his professional career.

Stage career

Platt built his reputation in musical theatre, appearing in productions such as "The Book of Mormon" before his breakthrough as Evan Hansen in "Dear Evan Hansen." The role made him one of the youngest solo recipients of the Tony Award for Best Leading Actor in a Musical.

Film and television

Platt reached a wider audience through the "Pitch Perfect" films and later appeared in other films and television series. He also reprised Evan Hansen in the 2021 film adaptation of "Dear Evan Hansen."
