Premise

The manga is written and illustrated by Kazue Kato and has been serialized in Jump Square since April 2009. As of May 2026, its chapters had been collected into 34 tankōbon volumes.

Anime and film adaptations

The manga was adapted into a television anime by A-1 Pictures, with the first season airing in 2011. The franchise also includes a feature film released in 2012.

Setting

The story takes place in a fictional universe made up of two realms: Assiah, the human world, and Gehenna, the demon world. Conflict between these worlds drives much of the plot.
