Brad Gushue is a Canadian curler from St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. He won Olympic gold in 2006 and Olympic bronze in 2022, and has been one of the most successful skips in Canadian curling. He announced his retirement from competitive curling after the 2025–26 season and later took a leadership role with USA Curling.
Early life and junior career
Gushue began curling as a teenager in St. John’s and quickly became successful at the junior level. He won Canadian and world junior titles in 2001 and later moved into men’s competition.
Olympic career
Gushue led Canada’s men’s curling team to gold at Turin 2006, the country’s first Olympic gold in the discipline. He returned to the Olympics at Beijing 2022 and won bronze, setting a long gap between Olympic medals.
National and world championships
At the Brier, Canada’s men’s championship, Gushue became one of the most decorated skips in the event’s history with six titles. He also won the world championship in 2017 and added silver medals in 2018 and 2022.
Later career and retirement
Gushue remained a top competitor into his mid-40s and announced that the 2025–26 season would be his final season in competitive curling. After retiring, he accepted a high-performance director role with USA Curling.
