Early life and college career

Dawkins was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and played college football at Clemson University. At Clemson, he built a strong defensive résumé and was later honoured by the program with an award named after him.

NFL career

Selected 61st overall in 1996, Dawkins became a long-time defensive leader for the Philadelphia Eagles before finishing his career with the Denver Broncos. He was known for his tackling, ball-hawking ability, and leadership in the secondary.

Honours and legacy

Dawkins was named to nine Pro Bowls, five All-Pro teams, and the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018 and is widely regarded as one of the best safeties in league history.

Post-playing career
