Bruno Marchand is a Québécois politician and community-sector leader who has served as mayor of Quebec City since 2021.

He is the founder and leader of the municipal party Québec forte et fière, and has held leadership roles in community and heritage organizations. Born in Québec on 22 May 1972, Marchand worked in the non-profit sector before entering municipal politics.

Early life and education

Bruno Marchand was born in Québec and grew up in the Limoilou area. He studied philosophy at Université Laval and completed a technical diploma in social work at Cégep de Sainte-Foy.

Community-sector career

Before becoming a politician, Marchand worked for community organizations in Quebec City. He held leadership roles at the Association québécoise de prévention du suicide and later served as president and CEO of Centraide Québec, Chaudière-Appalaches et Bas-Saint-Laurent.

Mayor of Quebec City

Marchand was elected mayor in November 2021 and became the 38th person to hold the office. He was re-elected in 2025, with his party winning a strong majority on city council.

International and heritage roles

Since September 2022, Marchand has served as president of the Organisation des villes du patrimoine mondial. He has also served as vice-president of the Association internationale des maires francophones.
