Bryan Bergougnoux was a French professional footballer and coach.

Bryan Bergougnoux was a French professional footballer and coach who played mainly as an attacking midfielder or forward. Born in Lyon in 1983, he came through the Olympique Lyonnais youth system and won three Ligue 1 titles with the club before later representing teams in France, Italy and Cyprus. After his playing career, he worked as a coach and assistant coach in French football until his death in 2026 at age 43.

Early life and youth career

Bergougnoux was born in Lyon and developed at the Olympique Lyonnais academy. He became a professional with Lyon in the early 2000s.

Playing career

He played as an attacking midfielder or forward, with his most successful spell coming at Olympique Lyonnais. He made his senior debut for Lyon in 2001 and won three French league titles with the club. He later played for Toulouse FC, US Lecce, LB Châteauroux, Omonia Nicosia and Tours FC, and was reported to have made more than 400 professional appearances.

Coaching career

After retiring as a player, Bergougnoux moved into coaching in French football. Reports in 2024 and 2025 placed him at Thonon Evian Grand Genève and later as an assistant coach at Le Havre.

Honours and international career

With Lyon, he won Ligue 1 three times (2002, 2004, 2005) and the Trophée des champions twice (2003, 2004). He also earned 20 caps and scored 9 goals for France at under-21 level.
