Early life and education

Caroline Polachek was born in New York City and raised in Connecticut. She studied at the University of Colorado Boulder, where she co-founded the indie pop band Chairlift.

Solo career

Polachek began releasing solo material in the 2010s under the names Ramona Lisa and CEP before issuing music under her own name. Her debut studio album under her own name was Pang (2019), which includes the track “So Hot You’re Hurting My Feelings,” one of her best-known solo songs. Her second album, Desire, I Want to Turn Into You (2023), received Grammy recognition for engineering.
