John Constantine first appeared in 1985 in Swamp Thing #37 and later received his own series, Hellblazer, in 1988. The series ran until 2013 and became a landmark title for DC’s Vertigo imprint.

Characterization

Constantine is portrayed as a cynical, working-class magician and con man who uses occult knowledge and deception to survive supernatural threats. He is commonly associated with London and Liverpool and is known for operating on the edge of heroism.
