Premise

The series follows three Coppelion girls sent into a ruined Tokyo to search for survivors after a nuclear accident has made the city unsafe for ordinary people. The main characters are Ibara Naruse, Aoi Fukasaku, and Taeko Nomura, three genetically engineered girls resistant to radiation.

Manga publication

Coppelion began as a manga written and illustrated by Tomonori Inoue. It ran in Kodansha magazines from 2008 until 2016, first serialized in Weekly Young Magazine and later in Monthly Young Magazine.

Anime adaptation

The anime adaptation premiered on 2 October 2013 and ran for 13 episodes until 25 December 2013. It was produced by GoHands and broadcast as a science-fiction action series. The series was licensed for North American release by VIZ Media, which includes Canadian viewers and collectors.

Setting and themes
