Damon Albarn is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the frontman of Blur and the co-founder and creative force behind Gorillaz. Born in Whitechapel, London in 1968, he has been active since 1988 and has worked across rock, pop, electronic, hip-hop, and world music.

Early life

Damon Albarn was born in Whitechapel, London, in 1968. He later met Graham Coxon at school, and the two went on to form Blur.

Blur

Blur became Albarn’s best-known early band and helped define the Britpop era. Their debut album, *Leisure*, was released in 1991.

Gorillaz and later work
