Daniel Brière is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre and current NHL executive. Born in Gatineau, Quebec, he played 973 regular-season NHL games for the Phoenix Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, Philadelphia Flyers, Montreal Canadiens, and Colorado Avalanche, recording 696 points. After retiring in 2015, he moved into hockey management and became general manager of the Philadelphia Flyers in 2023.

Early life and junior career

Brière was born in Gatineau, Quebec, and developed as a centre. He was selected 24th overall in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft by the Phoenix Coyotes. He was a highly productive junior player prior to entering professional hockey.

NHL playing career

Brière played parts of 17 NHL seasons, spending time with the Phoenix Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, Philadelphia Flyers, Montreal Canadiens, and Colorado Avalanche. He recorded 307 goals and 389 assists for 696 points in 973 regular-season games. He was known for his playoff scoring, amassing 116 points in 124 career Stanley Cup playoff games. He announced his retirement on August 17, 2015.

International career

Brière represented Canada at multiple tournaments and won four gold medals. His titles came at the 1994 World U18 Championships, 1997 World Junior Championships, and the 2003 and 2004 World Championships.

Executive career

After retiring as a player in 2015, Brière moved into hockey operations. He later joined the Philadelphia Flyers front office and became the team's general manager in 2023.
