Daniel Johnson, Jr. is a Canadian politician and lawyer from Quebec who served as premier of Quebec from 1994 to 1994 and later led the Quebec Liberal Party until 1998. He is the son of former Quebec premier Daniel Johnson, Sr., and has also held senior party and cabinet roles in Quebec politics.
Early life and career
Daniel Johnson, Jr. was born in Montreal on 24 December 1944 and trained as a lawyer. Before entering full-time politics, he worked in business, including senior roles at Power Corporation of Canada.
Political career
Johnson was elected to the Quebec legislature multiple times and held ministerial responsibilities in the Quebec government. He became leader of the Quebec Liberal Party in December 1993 and served as premier of Quebec from January to September 1994.

Johnson became premier after Robert Bourassa resigned because of health issues. His short premiership focused on fiscal restraint and privatization measures aimed at improving Quebec’s public finances.
Later life
