Dédé Fortin

André « Dédé » Fortin was a Québécois singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, filmmaker, and actor best known as the founding member and frontman of the band Les Colocs.

Early life

André Fortin was born on 17 November 1962 in Saint-Thomas-Didyme, Quebec. He later became widely known by the nickname Dédé.

Les Colocs

Fortin co-founded Les Colocs in 1990 and became the group's main singer and creative leader. He wrote and composed many of the group's best-known songs, several of which are regarded as classics. During Fortin's career, Les Colocs won four Félix awards. The band became one of the most influential acts in Quebec music during the 1990s.
