Premise

The series follows high school detective Shinichi Kudo after he is poisoned by a criminal organization and transformed into a child. Using the alias Conan Edogawa, he continues solving cases while searching for a cure and pursuing the group behind his condition.

Characters and naming

The central character’s child identity is Conan Edogawa, a name derived from detective writers Edgar Allan Poe and Arthur Conan Doyle in common retellings of the series’ naming origins. The series is also known internationally as Detective Conan and, in some markets, Case Closed.
