Doug Ford was born in Etobicoke, Ontario, in 1964 and worked for years at Deco Labels and Tags, the family business co-founded by his father. He later became president of the company and helped expand its operations into the United States.

Municipal and provincial politics

Ford entered elected office as a Toronto city councillor in 2010, serving until 2014. He won the Ontario Progressive Conservative leadership in 2018 and became premier after his party won the provincial election that year.

Premier of Ontario

As premier, Ford has led Ontario since June 2018. He has won multiple provincial elections while continuing to represent Etobicoke North in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.

Ford is married to Karla Ford and has four daughters. He comes from a politically active family that includes his late brother Rob Ford and his father Doug Ford Sr.
