He is best known for his senior leadership roles with the Benetton and Renault Formula One teams, and later returned to the sport with Alpine in 2024. Outside of motorsport, Briatore has been a prominent figure in luxury hospitality and nightlife ventures, including the Billionaire brand.

Early life and business career

Briatore was born in Verzuolo, Piedmont, in 1950. He began his career in business before entering Formula One management, opening Benetton franchising operations and later moving into motorsport.

Formula One career

Briatore became involved with the Benetton Formula One team in the early 1990s and later led Renault’s Formula One team. His tenure is associated with major championship success, but also with the 2009 Singapore Grand Prix crash controversy, which led to his departure from Renault.

Business and hospitality ventures

Outside motorsport, Briatore built a reputation as a luxury entrepreneur. He has been linked to high-end clubs, resorts, and hospitality brands, including Billionaire and later Majestas.

Return to Alpine

Briatore returned to Formula One with Alpine in 2024 as an executive adviser. He later took on a more direct leadership role after changes in the team’s management.
