Early life and amateur career

Golovkin was born in Karaganda, Kazakhstan, in 1982. Before turning professional, he had an accomplished amateur career and represented Kazakhstan at the 2004 Summer Olympics, where he won silver in the middleweight division.

Professional boxing career

Golovkin turned professional in 2006 and became one of the leading middleweights of his era. He won and defended multiple world titles, with a notable unified reign from 2015 to 2018, and later challenged for the undisputed super middleweight title in 2022.

Titles and achievements

Golovkin held the WBA (Super), WBC, IBF, and IBO middleweight titles at different times between 2011 and 2023. His career record and knockout total helped establish him as one of the division’s most successful modern champions.
