Early life and education

Hoda Kotb was born in Norman, Oklahoma, in 1964. She studied broadcast journalism at Virginia Tech, earning a BA. Kotb grew up in the United States and is of Egyptian heritage.

Kotb began her career in local television news before joining NBC News in 1998 as a correspondent for Dateline NBC. She later became a prominent NBC morning television host.

Today and NBC role

In 2007, Kotb began co-hosting the fourth hour of Today. In January 2018, she was named co-anchor of Today alongside Savannah Guthrie, becoming part of the first all-female co-anchoring team in the show's history. She announced plans to leave her Today hosting duties in early 2025.
