Homa Mirafshar (born Homa Homayoun; 23 February 1937 – 2 June 2026) was an Iranian poet, journalist and lyricist who resided in the United States. She was considered one of the most prolific and influential figures in contemporary Persian songwriting, with some sources reporting over 600 songs to her credit. She died in Los Angeles on 2 June 2026.

Biography

Homa Mirafshar was born Homa Homayoun on 4 Esfand 1315 (23 February 1937) in Tehran, Iran. She later lived in the United States and remained a well-known figure in Persian songwriting until her death.

Professional career

She worked as a poet, journalist and lyricist. Her works are known in Persian music, especially love songs and pop. Sources describe her as one of the most prolific contemporary lyricists.

Place in Persian music

Mirafshar has been introduced in media as one of the most influential figures of contemporary Persian songwriting. Some sources report her body of work as over 600 songs. She has been referred to as the 'Queen of Iranian songwriting' and the 'Woman of a thousand songs'.
