Early life and youth career

Jamie Carragher was born in Bootle, England, and joined Liverpool’s youth system as a teenager. He progressed through the academy before making his professional debut in the 1996–97 season.

Carragher played his entire senior club career for Liverpool from 1996 to 2013. He became a regular starter, later moving mainly into central defence, and finished as one of the club’s most experienced players. He made 737 appearances for Liverpool, the club’s second-highest total.
