Jared Schutz Polis is an American politician, entrepreneur and philanthropist who has served as the 43rd governor of Colorado since January 2019. A Democrat, he previously represented Colorado's 2nd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2009 to 2019. He is the first openly gay man elected governor of a U.S. state and the first Jewish governor of Colorado.

Early life and education

Polis was born in Boulder, Colorado, in 1975 and later earned a bachelor's degree from Princeton University in 1996. During college, he co-founded an internet service provider that later became American Information Systems.
