Jeremy Hunt was born on 1 November 1966 and grew up in Surrey. He studied at the University of Oxford.

Business career

Before entering Parliament, Hunt ran Hotcourses, an educational publishing business. He also set up a charity supporting AIDS orphans in Africa.

Parliamentary career

Hunt was elected to the House of Commons in 2005 as the Conservative MP for South West Surrey. After boundary changes, he was elected in 2024 for the new Godalming and Ash constituency.

Ministerial office

Hunt held several senior cabinet posts, including Culture Secretary, Health Secretary, Foreign Secretary, and Chancellor of the Exchequer. His tenure as Health Secretary made him one of the longest-serving in the role.
