Early career

Keller began his career at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) in the 1980s, where he worked as a chip designer on processor development.

AMD and x86-64

At AMD, Keller contributed to the Athlon (K7) family and was a lead architect of the K8 microarchitecture. He also coauthored the x86-64 instruction set extension and the HyperTransport interconnect specifications. These efforts helped establish AMD as a major competitor in the x86 processor market.

Apple, Tesla, and Intel

Keller later worked at P.A. Semi, which was acquired by Apple, where he contributed to the development of the Apple A4 and A5 processors used in iPhones and iPads. He then joined Tesla to work on autopilot hardware for electric car. In 2018, he became a senior vice president at Intel’s Silicon Engineering Group, a role he held until 2020.

Tenstorrent

Keller joined Tenstorrent as chief technology officer in 2020 and became president and later chief executive officer in January 2023. Tenstorrent develops Artificial Intelligence-focused computing hardware and software.
