Early life and amateur career

Frazier was born in Beaufort, South Carolina, and later moved to Philadelphia, where he developed into a successful amateur boxer. He won the heavyweight gold medal at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.

Professional boxing career

Frazier turned professional in 1965 and built a reputation for relentless pressure and a powerful left hook. He compiled a career record of 32-4-1 with 27 knockouts.

Heavyweight champion and rivalry with Ali

Frazier won a share of the heavyweight title in 1968 and became undisputed champion in 1970 after defeating Jimmy Ellis. His bouts with Muhammad Ali, including the 1971 “Fight of the Century” and later title fights, became central to his legacy.

Later years and death

Frazier lost the title to George Foreman in 1973, retired in 1976, briefly returned to the ring in 1981, and died in 2011 from liver cancer.
