Early life and training

John Williams was born in 1932 in Queens, New York, and later moved to Los Angeles with his family. He studied music and piano before beginning work in the film industry as an orchestrator and studio musician.

Williams became one of Hollywood’s best-known composers through highly recognizable scores for blockbuster films. He is especially associated with major collaborations with Steven Spielberg and George Lucas.
