Early life

Kim Jong-hyun was born in Seoul, South Korea, in 1990. He later trained in music and became active in the entertainment industry in 2008.

Career with SHINee

Jonghyun gained prominence as the main vocalist of SHINee, one of the best-known K-pop groups of the late 2000s and 2010s. He contributed to the group’s recordings in both Korean and Japanese.

Solo career

As a solo artist, Jonghyun released the EP Base in 2015, followed by the studio album She Is in 2016. He also released compilation albums and soundtrack songs during his solo career.

Writing and broadcasting

Beyond music, Jonghyun worked as a radio host and author. He was known for writing songs and engaging in projects beyond his group activities.

Death and legacy

Jonghyun died in December 2017 at age 27. His posthumous release Poet | Artist followed in 2018, and he remains a significant figure in K-pop.
