Josh Homme is an American musician, singer-songwriter, and record producer. He is best known as the founder, primary songwriter, and only continuous member of Queens of the Stone Age. Homme was also a founding member of Kyuss and Eagles of Death Metal, and a member of the supergroup Them Crooked Vultures.

Early life

Josh Homme was born on May 17, 1973, in Palm Springs, California, and grew up in the Palm Desert area. He began his music career in the late 1980s.

Kyuss and desert rock

Homme co-founded Kyuss, a band that became a central figure in the development of stoner rock and the Palm Desert desert rock sound. He first gained prominence as a member and co-founder of the band.

Queens of the Stone Age

After Kyuss ended, Homme formed Queens of the Stone Age in 1996. He is the band's primary songwriter and its only continuous member.

Other projects

Homme co-founded Eagles of Death Metal in 1998, where he also played drums. He was part of the supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, formed in 2009. He has also contributed as a multi-instrumentalist and producer on other recordings.
