Early life

Karim Ouellet was born in Dakar, Senegal, on 8 December 1984. He was adopted as an infant by a Quebec family and spent time in several countries during his childhood before settling in Quebec as a teenager.

Music career

Ouellet emerged as a solo artist in 2011 with his debut album *Plume*. He later released *Fox* in 2014 and *Trente* in 2016. His music blended francophone pop with soul, reggae, folk and electronic elements. He was known for songs including “L’Amour,” which became a major francophone hit in Quebec.

Recognition

His second album *Fox* brought major recognition, including a Juno Award in 2014. He also received attention in Quebec for songs such as “L’Amour.”

Death

Ouellet was found dead in Quebec City on 17 November 2021. A coroner later concluded he died of diabetic ketoacidosis related to untreated diabetes, with methamphetamine use contributing to the inability to manage the condition. Sources clarified that the cause was not an overdose.
