Kevin Hugh Lowe is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman and executive, born in Lachute, Quebec.

Kevin Hugh Lowe is a Canadian former professional ice hockey defenceman and executive. Born in Lachute, Quebec, he played 19 NHL seasons with the Edmonton Oilers and New York Rangers, winning six Stanley Cups. Lowe was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2020.

Early life and junior career

Lowe was born in Lachute, Quebec, and developed as a player in junior hockey with the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He was a prominent junior player before being selected by Edmonton in the 1979 NHL Entry Draft.

NHL playing career

Lowe spent most of his NHL career with the Edmonton Oilers before finishing with the New York Rangers. He played 1,254 regular-season games and 214 playoff games, recording 84 goals, 347 assists and 431 points in the regular season. He was a key part of the Oilers' 1980s championship teams, winning five Stanley Cups with Edmonton, and later won another Stanley Cup with the Rangers in 1994. Lowe played more regular-season and playoff games for the Oilers than any other player in franchise history.

Executive and post-playing career

After retiring as a player in 1998, Lowe remained with the Oilers in coaching and management roles. He later served as general manager and president of hockey operations, and eventually vice-chairman of Oilers Entertainment Group.

Honours and recognition

Lowe received the King Clancy Memorial Trophy in 1990 for leadership and humanitarian contribution. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2020 and later had his number 4 retired by the Oilers in 2021.
