Early life and training

Kevin Owens was born on May 7, 1984, in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada. He began wrestling in 2000 and was trained by Jacques Rougeau and Terry Taylor. Early in his career, he performed under the ring name Kevin Steen.

Independent wrestling career

Before joining WWE, Owens competed extensively on the independent circuit, including in promotions such as Ring of Honor and Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, where he won championships. He established a reputation as a hard-hitting and versatile wrestler.

WWE career

Owens debuted in NXT in 2014 and won the NXT Championship before moving to WWE’s main roster in May 2015, where he defeated John Cena in his first match. He has since won several major WWE titles, including the Universal Championship, Intercontinental Championship, United States Championship, and Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship. His long-time rival and frequent tag partner Sami Zayn has been central to much of his career.
