He was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft and later joined the Green Bay Packers on a reserve/future contract in January 2026.

Early life and high school

McCord was born in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, on September 19, 2002. He attended St. Joseph’s Preparatory School in Pennsylvania and was a highly regarded recruit before beginning his college career at Ohio State.

College career

McCord played at Ohio State from 2021 to 2023, becoming the Buckeyes' starting quarterback in 2023. He then transferred to Syracuse for the 2024 season, where he led the FBS in passing yards with 4,779 yards and set Atlantic Coast Conference single-season passing-yardage and Syracuse single-season passing-touchdown records.

Professional career

McCord was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 181st overall pick in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft. He later spent time on the Eagles' practice squad and signed with the Green Bay Packers on a reserve/future contract in January 2026.

Records and honours

In his final college season, McCord set Syracuse single-season records for passing yards and passing touchdowns, as well as the ACC single-season passing-yardage record. He was a finalist for major college football honours and finished 10th in the Heisman Trophy voting in 2024.
