She built a career in broadcast journalism over more than three decades and has received major Canadian honours, including the Order of Canada and the Order of Ontario.

Early life and education

Lisa LaFlamme was born in Kitchener, Ontario, in 1964. She studied at the University of Ottawa and later began her broadcasting career in her hometown region.

Broadcasting career

LaFlamme began her broadcasting career in 1989 in Kitchener-Waterloo at CTV Kitchener. She later worked on international affairs and as a substitute anchor before becoming chief anchor and senior editor of CTV National News in 2011, succeeding Lloyd Robertson. She was the first woman to serve as the permanent chief anchor of CTV National News. Her reporting included coverage of major global events. She remained in the role until 2022, when CTV announced the end of her contract.

Awards and honours

LaFlamme has received multiple Canadian Screen Awards and other journalism honours, including recognition from the Radio-Television News Directors Association. In 2019, she was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada. She is also a member of the Order of Ontario.

Public profile

Beyond news anchoring, LaFlamme has been an ambassador for PLAN International. Her departure from CTV in 2022 drew significant public attention in Canada.
