Early life and career beginnings

Louis Walsh was born in Kiltimagh, County Mayo, and moved to Dublin in the late 1970s to pursue work in the music business. He later became active as a talent manager in the Irish and UK pop industries.

Music management career

Walsh is best known for managing Boyzone and Westlife, two of the most commercially successful Irish pop groups of the 1990s and 2000s. He created an Irish version of Take That in 1993, which became Boyzone after open auditions were publicized in the press. Boyzone achieved multiple top-three singles, number-one singles, and number-one albums, with sales of more than 20 million copies worldwide. Walsh also managed Westlife and has been associated with acts including Samantha Mumba, Girls Aloud, G4, Jedward, Shayne Ward and Union J.
