He is best known for serving multiple powers, killing his adoptive patrons Ding Yuan and Dong Zhuo, and being captured and executed after his defeat at Xiapi. Later literature and popular culture portray him as one of the most formidable warriors of the Three Kingdoms era.

Historical career

Lu Bu rose to prominence in the final decades of the Han dynasty. He was originally a subordinate of Ding Yuan before killing him and defecting to Dong Zhuo. He was known for strong horsemanship and archery and was called the "Flying General."

Defection and downfall

In 192, Lu Bu killed Dong Zhuo after being influenced by Wang Yun and Shisun Rui. After a series of conflicts and defections, he was defeated at Xiapi by Cao Cao's forces and executed on 7 February 199.

Reputation and later portrayals

Contemporary and later sources describe Lu Bu as exceptionally skilled in mounted combat and archery. Later historical novels and modern media transformed him into an iconic figure often depicted as one of the strongest warriors of the era. In Canada, Lu Bu is widely known through video games, strategy titles, and adaptations of Romance of the Three Kingdoms.
