Malcolm-Jamal Warner was born on August 18, 1970, in Jersey City, New Jersey, and was later raised in Los Angeles. He began acting as a child.

Acting career

Warner rose to fame as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show from 1984 to 1992, a role that earned him a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. He later starred in the sitcom Malcolm & Eddie from 1996 to 2000 and appeared in later television series including Reed Between the Lines and The Resident.

Music and other work

In addition to acting, Warner worked as a musician, poet, and spoken-word artist. He won a Grammy Award in 2015 for his contribution to Robert Glasper's 'Jesus Children,' and his 2022 poetry album was nominated for a Grammy.

Death

Warner died on July 20, 2025, in Limón Province, Costa Rica. According to sources, he drowned after being caught in a strong current while swimming.
