Origins

Stage production

The musical premiered at the Prince Edward Theatre in London on 6 April 1999 and later became an international hit. It features a large set of ABBA songs woven into a story about family and relationships.

Film adaptation

The 2008 film adaptation brought the musical to the screen and featured an ensemble cast led by Meryl Streep. It was released in July 2008 and was filmed mainly on the Greek island of Skopelos and at Damouchari in Pelion, with studio work also used for some scenes.
