Marie-Soleil Tougas was a Québécoise actress and television host active from childhood until her death in 1997.

Marie-Soleil Tougas (3 May 1970 – 10 August 1997) was a Québécoise actress and television host known for her work from childhood until her untimely death. She became a familiar figure in Quebec television through acting roles and youth‑oriented and family programming, and died in a plane crash in northern Quebec at age 27.

Early life

Marie-Soleil Tougas was born in Mont-Saint-Hilaire, Quebec, on 3 May 1970. She entered television as a child actor and became a familiar figure to Quebec audiences from a young age.

Career

Tougas worked as both an actress and a television host, appearing in several Quebec productions. Her work included youth and family programming such as Les Débrouillards and Fort Boyard, as well as other popular television series like Peau de banane.

Death

Tougas died on 10 August 1997 in a plane crash near Ungava Bay in northern Quebec, while travelling with filmmaker Jean-Claude Lauzon. The accident drew major public attention in Quebec.
