She appeared in over 30 films and received five César Award nominations. She died in 2003 at age 41 after suffering a cerebral edema following an assault by her partner, Bertrand Cantat.

Early life

Marie Trintignant was born in Boulogne-Billancourt in 1962. She was the daughter of actor Jean-Louis Trintignant and director Nadine Trintignant, and began appearing on screen in childhood.

Career

Her acting career extended from the 1960s to the early 2000s. She worked in both cinema and theatre and appeared in more than 30 films, earning five César Award nominations.

Notable roles

Trintignant became known for a range of dramatic roles, including performances in Série noire and Betty. Sources also note later films such as Promenons-nous dans les bois and Harrison's Flowers.

Death

In July 2003, Trintignant was assaulted during a dispute with her partner Bertrand Cantat. She died on 1 August 2003 in Neuilly-sur-Seine after developing a cerebral edema.
