He was selected seventh overall by the Minnesota Wild in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and has played in the NHL for Minnesota, Arizona, Tampa Bay, Dallas and Pittsburgh. Dumba is known for his defensive play, physical style, puck-moving ability, and his community work, for which he received the King Clancy Memorial Trophy.

Early life and junior career

Dumba was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, and developed as a right-shot defenceman in Canadian junior hockey. His early playing career led to his selection near the top of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, where he was chosen seventh overall by the Minnesota Wild.

NHL career

Dumba was drafted seventh overall by the Minnesota Wild in 2012 and spent his first 10 NHL seasons with the team. He later signed with the Arizona Coyotes in 2023 and was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning in March 2024. On July 1, 2024, he signed a two-year contract with the Dallas Stars. He has also played for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
