The resulting Clinton–Lewinsky scandal led to Clinton’s impeachment in 1998 and made Lewinsky a prominent figure in discussions of media scrutiny and public shaming.

Early life and education

Monica Lewinsky was born in San Francisco and later studied at Lewis & Clark College, earning a degree in psychology. She also completed a master’s degree in psychology at the London School of Economics.

While serving as a White House intern, Lewinsky had a sexual relationship with President Bill Clinton. The disclosure of the relationship triggered a major political scandal and led to Clinton’s impeachment by the U.S. House of Representatives.
