The original One Day at a Time was a CBS sitcom created by Whitney Blake, Norman Lear, and Allan Manings. It premiered on December 16, 1975, and ended on May 28, 1984. The series stars Bonnie Franklin as Ann Romano, a divorced mother raising her two teenage daughters in Indianapolis, alongside Pat Harrington Jr., Valerie Bertinelli, and Mackenzie Phillips. The original series earned Primetime Emmy recognition and multiple nominations.

2017–2020 reboot

The later version reimagined the premise around a Cuban-American family in Los Angeles. Created by Gloria Calderón Kellett and Mike Royce, it stars Justina Machado as Penelope Alvarez, a single mother and Army veteran, and Rita Moreno as her mother Lydia. The reboot was first released on Netflix before later airing on Pop TV, running from 2017 to 2020.
