Early life and education

Patrice Roy was born on February 25, 1963. He studied political science at the Université de Montréal and began his broadcasting career in student radio at CISM. The university describes him as a prominent figure in Quebec television.

Career at Radio-Canada

Roy joined Radio-Canada in 1989, initially working as a reporter on the public-affairs program *Enjeux*. He later worked in the Montreal newsroom before becoming parliamentary correspondent in Quebec City from 1997 to 2000. He served as parliamentary correspondent in Ottawa from 2000 to 2008 and was named head of the parliamentary bureau in 2005.

Broadcast hosting roles

Since 2008, Roy has anchored the Montreal edition of *Le Téléjournal*. He also presents *En direct avec Patrice Roy* on ICI RDI, adding a second daily news role from 2014 onward.
