Paul Orndorff was born on October 29, 1949, in Winchester, Virginia. He played college football at the University of Tampa before transitioning to a career in professional wrestling.

Professional wrestling career

Orndorff began wrestling in the mid-1970s and worked for several promotions, including regional NWA-affiliated territories. He gained national fame in the WWF during the 1980s, where he was known as “Mr. Wonderful.” Later, he moved to WCW, where he won the WCW World Television Championship and, with Paul Roma, the WCW World Tag Team Championship. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005.

Major feuds and matches

Orndorff is especially associated with Hulk Hogan. He appeared in the main event of the first WrestleMania, teaming with Roddy Piper against Hogan and Mr. T. He also faced Hogan in a noted 1986 main event in Toronto, Canada.
