Phil Rosenthal is an American television writer, producer, actor, and director. He is best known as the creator, writer, and executive producer of the CBS sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond. He later became known for food-and-travel documentary series including I'll Have What Phil's Having and Somebody Feed Phil.

Early life and education

Rosenthal was born in Queens, New York, and raised in New City, New York, in Rockland County. He attended Hofstra University, where he majored in theater.

Career in television

He built an early writing career on series such as Coach and Down the Shore before creating Everybody Loves Raymond in 1995. He served as showrunner and executive producer throughout the sitcom's nine-season run.

Later work in food and travel

Rosenthal later shifted toward documentary television focused on food and travel. His series include I'll Have What Phil's Having on PBS and Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix.

Other work and recognition
