Pink Moon is the third and final studio album by English musician Nick Drake.

Background and recording

Pink Moon was recorded over two nights on 30–31 October 1971 at Sound Techniques in London, with producer John Wood. Unlike Drake’s earlier, more orchestrated records, this album was made without a backing band, using only Drake’s voice and acoustic guitar, plus a piano overdub on the title track.

Music and style

The album is built around sparse folk songwriting, with Drake performing primarily solo on acoustic guitar and vocals. The title track includes a brief piano part overdubbed by Drake. The album’s minimal arrangement distinguishes it from his previous work and contributes to its intimate, melancholic atmosphere.
