Reece Howden

Reece Howden is a Canadian freestyle skier who competes in ski cross.

Reece Howden (born 12 July 1998) is a Canadian freestyle skier who competes in ski cross. He has represented Canada at the Winter Olympics and has won multiple FIS Ski Cross World Cup titles, making him one of the most successful male ski cross racers in World Cup history. Howden is a prominent Canadian winter-sport athlete and a medal contender for Canada in Olympic and World Cup ski cross competition.

Early life and development

Howden is from Cultus Lake, British Columbia, and developed as an alpine skier before moving into ski cross. According to Alberta Alpine Canada, he trained at Apex Mountain Resort and later shifted to ski cross at age 17.

International career

Howden debuted internationally in FIS competition in 2015 and won gold at the 2016 Youth Olympic Games in ski cross. He later became a regular World Cup contender and an Olympic athlete for Canada, representing his country at the 2022 and 2026 Winter Olympics.

World Cup success

Howden has earned multiple World Cup victories, podiums, and Crystal Globe titles. By March 2026, he was reported by CBC to be the winningest male ski cross racer in World Cup history, with three Crystal Globe overall titles and 24 career World Cup wins.

Olympic and championship results

Howden competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics, where he finished ninth in men’s ski cross, and returned for the 2026 Winter Olympics. He also helped Canada win silver in the team event at the 2023 World Ski Ski Cross Championships.
