She is the first woman to serve as governor of Arkansas and the daughter of former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee.

Early life and education

Sarah Huckabee Sanders was born in Hope, Arkansas, and is the daughter of Mike Huckabee and Janet Huckabee. She studied political science at Ouachita Baptist University and graduated in 2004.

Political and campaign career

Before serving in the White House, Sanders worked on several Republican campaigns, including those of her father, George W. Bush, John Boozman, Tim Pawlenty, Tom Cotton, and Donald Trump. She also worked in campaign consulting and political strategy.

White House press secretary

Sanders served as White House press secretary from 2017 to 2019, becoming the third woman to hold the role. She was a senior adviser on Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign before joining the administration.

Governor of Arkansas

Sanders won the 2022 Arkansas gubernatorial election and was inaugurated on January 10, 2023. She is the first woman to serve as governor of Arkansas and the youngest governor in the United States at the time noted by the Arkansas governor’s office.
